Opportunities to Study with Glenn

Please send an email to classes@vilppustore.com if you would like to be included on our select E-mail list for southern California residents.  We will send out special invitations to you for local classes held by Glenn. 

Not sure if you are ready to take a class from Glenn in person?  We often hear questions from "I'm not sure if I am good enough yet" to "I am not sure if I will get anything out of it since I am already very accomplished, a professional, or a teacher".  There is a wide range in the experience and training of the artists in Glenn's classes.  Glenn will give his lectures and demonstrations and then help each artist at their own level.  There is usually a mix of students of all ages and skill levels as well as professionals and teachers.  While Glenn's method is ideal for beginners, he is also known as the "teacher's teacher".  No matter what your skill level, you will find it very comfortable to be in this supportive, non-competitive environment.

Location Sketching
Saturdays 10AM - 3PM  
August 2 & 16, September 6, October 4 & 18, November 1 & 15, December 6 & 20

Figure Drawing and Anatomy  
Saturdays 10:30AM 10:00AM- 1PM

Recommended Materials: Vilppu Drawing Demonstrations Step-by-Step (recommended), drawing board, pencils, paper (any size). These classes are appropriate for artists of any level from beginner to professional as Glenn will give his lecture and demo and then give individual help to each person at his/her own level. Saturdays 2PM - 5PM

Basic Figure Drawing and Anatomy

Cartoon animation in the United States is at a crisis point. The classic animators of the "golden age of animation" have almost all retired, and too many of the greats have passed away. Few attempts have been made to pass the wealth of these artists' knowledge to a new generation.  The American Animation Institute was founded in 1980 by the Animation Guild and Affiliated Optical Electronic and Graphic Arts, Local 839 IATSE, to further the art of the animated cartoon in the United States through educational and other activities.

University of California, Los Angeles
 Glenn currently teaches in the Master's of Animation program at UCLA. His classes there are held during the fall and winter quarters and are only for students enrolled in the Master's program.


Other Possibilities

We were working out the details of how we can best help you Learn to Draw Like a Renaissance Master, and it became apparent that not everyone would be needing the same level of involvement, so we are looking at having several levels of participation. There might be something that works better for you!

  • The basic involvement that many of you are already participating in is the E-mail Drawing Demonstration Series. 

  • We finally have the back issues of this Email Drawing Demonstration Series available.

  • Do you have an idea of somewhere that Glenn could come for a guest lecture?   

  • Would you be interested in attending a webinar (web seminar)?

  • Do you want to see Glenn run his correspondence course again?

  • Last but not least, for those of you die-hards!  Would you be interested if we got Glenn to run a Mentorship program for a small select group of artists?
