Glenn's Personal Sketchbooks
The artist's sketch book is more
than just a collection of drawings. Like a diary, the sketch book reveals the
day to day visual involvement of the artist in his world and in that sense,
gives you a more intimate picture of the artist. This "behind the scenes"
view has historically been of keen interest to collectors, art historians and
students of art.
The sketch book, to the artist,
is the repository of his observations, trials, studies, and experimentation.
The pages of the sketch book are populated with the germs of future works,
family, friends, and the world he lives in. The artist as an individual.
To the artist, the sketch book
drawings are a library of his visual thoughts that he refers back to again and
again. Drawing, to the artist, is the process of visual thinking, and the
sketch book is its most intimate form. Not only is the sketch book the
beginning of the creative act, it is an Art form in itself.
